1st Annual Pumpkin Carving

This is Ryleighs first Halloween, so we decided to start the pumpkin carving tradition. Here a pictures. Ryleigh decided to just observe after touching the pumpkin guts and being grossed out...lol. (PS the onesie she has on is an old one, I didnt want her to stain up a good one.)

Update on Us

My baby girl is 11 months old today. Ive been planning her 1st birthday for about a month+ now. I have a lot of things done. I have to get invitations out, get her 1 year pictures done (get her a dress first...lol), and get favors together. I think I will wait till they RSVP that way I can buy specific things for specific people. There will be a wide variety of ages and I cant give a 1 yr old the same thing as a 6 1/2 yr old.

Ryleighs development is moving along nicely. Shes pulling up to standing consistantly and on EVERYTHING. We are working on getting her to put her back to the couch this week to try and get her to stand w/o holding on to anything and then to stand w/o touching anything. We are also working on her standing facing the couch and reaching to the L. and R. to get things then coming back to the center w/o falling, and reaching down to get things. That one isnt going to well. When she reaches down she flops all the way over instead of coming back up to standing.

Overall shes doing very well. We have been doing a lot of fall/halloween events lately. We went to Boo at the Zoo, and a costume party at a local soft play area. We had a great time.

Ive been working really hard on a 1 year slideshow for Ryleigh's party. Im really excited about it. I hope everyone enjoys it. I will try to make a shortened version for online viewing.

$100

Yesterday I got selected to do a 4 hr focus group on a court case. We signed in and got our name tags. Sat in the room and did introductions about ourselves. There were microphones on the table and a camera at the front of the room. After everyone introduced themselves the plantiff told us his case. Then the defense. We took a 20 min break, then we pretended to be the jury and we debated about it. I think I did pretty good. I definitly voiced my opinion. I was really nervous, having to talk and possibly have someone get mad that I didnt share there opinion, but I stood my ground. I did have someone snap back once but I handled it well. Im not really outspoken with people I dont know, and I was the youngest one there. It was by far the easiest $100 ive ever made!

Coopers Rock

Monday I went to Morgantown, WV with my mom and Ryleigh to see my sister. Shes going to WVU and living in an apartment down there. While we were there we went to Coopers Rock. We didnt do any trails or anything, but we drove up to the overlook and walked out onto the rock. I couldnt take the stroller, so I put Ryleigh in the sling. It was 80 degrees and SO HOT. She was fussy so we didnt get to stay as long as we would have liked. It was so beautiful though! Maybe next year we can go again and do some trails also.

This one is my favorite. Believe it or not my mom took it!

Im way behind on Blogging and Im trying to catch up today. Sunday Bobby and I took Ryleigh to the park to play in the leaves and get pictures of the fall trees. Here are some of the best ones we took that day.

Pumpkin Patch

We took Ryleigh to a pumpkin patch yesterday. We all had a good time. MIL went with us too. SIL, her DH and kids were supposed to go, but the bailed on us a couple hrs before. (I woulnt get into all that....Their loss) The drive up took 1 hr. When we got there we took a shuttle to the main entrance and bought our tickets to do the hayride and go to the pumpkin patch and get a pumpkin. We watched the kids sling apples into the lake with a big sling shot, checked out the play area that had a HUGE slide, tires to climb on, a fire truck slide, and halloween cut outs to stick your head in. After that we looked at the corn maze and hay maze (kids maze), but decided not to do them, we had limited time and the corn maze takes a while. Expecially if you get really lost...lol. We went to the pumpkin patch and Ryleigh picked out the perfect pumpkins. Then Bobby and his mom smuggled 2 little ones out in the diaper bag. Shame on them. Ryleigh got to eat her first apple and REALLY enjoyed it! It was so cute watching her lil hands hold the apple and eat little bites. I will put some of the best pics below. Enjoy!

Sad

My SIL called the other day and told me that she signed my neice, Olivia up for a girl scouts group. When she signed her up she recognized the house, but couldnt remember why. She got home and told her DH and gave him the address. He said thats the house of a sexual offender! They looked it up on the internet and sure enough thats where the guy lives. The meetings are at a nearby church and you drop your child off for 2 hrs. SIL called the district leader and brought the situation up to her, and she didnt even seem concerned! She said she would look into it. SIL has decided not to send Olivia since she cant stay there with her. I looked it up and it said it was a child that he molested. What is the world coming to when you cant even send your kid to girl scouts!

Been thinking

Before Ryleigh was born Bobby and I had a talk about getting her dedicated. We talked about who the god parents would be. To me being a god parent is a serious thing. You are choosing someone to take care of your child in the event of your death. In the end Bobby and I absolutly could not come to a decision on who those people would be. Luckaly our church doesnt have god parents so it was fine.
Last week at MOPS we has a Lawyer come and talk about Estate Planning. He talked about Power of Attorney and Medical Power of Attorney. It got me thinking again about this subject of what would happen to Ryleigh if Bobby and I both were to die. I was talking to Bobby about this again, and again we couldnt even come close to an agreement. Do any of you have god parents or a power of attorney? Any advice?

Desktop meme

I was tagged by Laura over at Synchronization of us for this meme.

* Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. You can do a screen capture by: Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scan (PrtScn) key. Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V). If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it.

* Post the picture on your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such a look or why is it full of icons–things like that.* Tag five people, and ask them to give you a free view of their desktops as well.
Our picture changes about 2 times a month. Bobby is usually the one to change it. Yes, we have alot of icons...lol. Bobby is the one that puts most of them there. I only use a few of them.

I didnt even know I had a Prt Scrn button on the keyboard...lol. I learn something new every day.

Ryleigh's Developmental Update

I had the big meeting with Birth to three yesterday to see if Ryleigh qualified for services. They determined that she was slightly delayed and may have a sensory disorder/problem. Also discussed with them about Ryleigh's behavior. She seems to get really mad/frusterated a lot. They asked about specific times when its the worst. I said changing her clothes and diaper were the worst, but there are also a lot of other times. They said that it might be because of a sensory problem. There will just be 1 specialist coming to the house once a week. She will start coming next thursday and we will meet probally on thursdays @4 all the time if that works out for both of us. So she will come and give me tips on how I can work with Ryleigh and help her to get moving and observe her further for the sensory problem.

Ryleigh's Halloween Costume

This is Ryleighs costume that she wore last year:

And this is the costume she will wear this year:
She absolutly hates the hat on this costume and throws a fit every time I try and put it on her...lol. Hopefully she will get use to it before we have to wear it out. She looks so darn cute it in though! So what will your kids be this year?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year it has a new meaning to me. My Aunt Donna was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been undergoing Chemotherapy, and has 2 treatments left. My Grandmother died of breast cancer when I was around 5, and my Aunt Donna was diagnosed at the same age she was when she died. Shes a fighter though, and I just know shes going to make it through this!

Here are some facts about Breast Cancer: (these were taken from a write up in my local news paper)

-The American cancer society estimate that more than 62,000 men and women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year
-200,000 women are diagnosed each year with breat cancer
-2,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the US in 1 years time.
-Those with a family history of cancer should have their first mammogram between the ages of 35-40. After 40, a women should recieve yearly mammograms.

I didnt know that men could get breast cancer also. I learned something new today. There is a breast cancer walk next sunday in my area. If you would like to walk with me email me.

Another way you can help is to click the icon below. I will also put this on the side of my page so you can come back and click it when you visit.

Festival

Today we went to a fall festival. This morning there was a parade and we went with my mom and dad. Ryleigh did really well with all the sirens on the fire trucks. One time they were right in front of us when it went off and she got a little nervous and clung to me. We got all kinds of candy from all the people in the parade. Little do they know that Bobby and I eat it all....hehe. After the Parade, my dad left and me, Bobby and my mom walked up to look at the crafts and get the cinnimon roasted Almonds....MMMMM. Every year we look forword to those. After we did that we went to the petting zoo and suprisingly Ryleigh pet the animals and wasnt scared. We listened to the band play at the opening ceremony then we bought the honey sticks and headed for home so Ryleigh could take a nap. She took a 3 hr nap, and I took a 2 hr nap. Then we were ready for round 2. We went back and met up with his family this time and walked around pet the animals again, bought a pickle which Ryleigh loved (Shes definitly my daughter...lol) and watched Olivia on the jumping thing and went home. Its been a long day. Here are some pics

My dad, and the parade

She didnt want her picture taken. :( It looked so pretty though.

Ryleigh's Dr. Visit

I ended up calling the Dr. this morning and they wanted to see her. They checked her temp and it was 100.9, her ears were clear, she has a yellow runny nose and a cough. He said it was a cold. Im glad its just a cold and not her ears again. Normally I would have waited, but with it being friday I didnt want to have to take her to the ER again if things got worse. So I figured a quick dr. trip would ease my mind. I still dont really understand why she would have a fever like that with a cold though. Who knows. I just hope shes up to having a good weekend. I will take lots of pics this weekend to make up for not taking any this week. Can you believe that? I havent picked up the camera at all this week! Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes for Ryleigh.

Thank you

With all of the recent happenings with Ryleigh I forgot to tell you all Thank you so much for voting for Ryleigh in the contest. She got 2nd place. She had well over 100 votes. Shes supposed to get a prize, but havent heard what it is yet.

Update

Its been a long week, and I am so glad today is Friday! Ryleighs doing better. She still feels like she has a slight fever, but I cant get a good reading when shes flailing around like a bucking bronco. I even have one of those thermometers that are supposed to take a 3-6 sec. reading and I still cant do it. Shes still been more fussy than normal also. I might call the Dr this morning just to see what they thing. Since its Friday I want to make sure shes OK before the weekend.

We have a busy weekend ahead of us. Tomorrow we are going to take Ryleigh to her first Prade and then check out all the sites at the festival. On Sunday we are going to a birthday party for Anna who will be turning 6. It should be a fun weekend. I hope Ryleigh is feeling up to it.

ER Visit

Saturday night Ryleigh didnt sleep through the night like she normally does. She got up once, I gave her a bottle and put her back to bed. Sunday she had a runny nose. I figured it was just her fall allergies kicking in. She was fussier than normal through the day. Sunday night I layed her down for bed and I had a hard time. She was really fussy and after an hr I finally got her to sleep. I went to bed at around 9pm and at 11:15pm I heard her crying. It wasnt the normal fussy cry where she would go back to bed in a couple min. It was a "Mommy I need you now cry". I picked her up changed her, fed her a bottle and tryed to lay her back down. She wasnt having that at all. She started getting really mad and screaming and crying with tears and all! I was up for 3 hrs with her. At 430am She started again. At least this time it only took an hr to get her back to sleep. Then at 730am there she was again. I called the Dr at 830am when they opened and the Dr called me back. I told him that Ryleigh had a yellow runny nose and a slight cough. He told me to get her some cough meds and if she got worse to call him back. During the day she started Running a slight fever. Between 99 and 100 degrees. Nothing major. She was still really fussy and not eating well. At around 8pm I could see she was very tired and I tryed to lay her down. She screamed for about 1 1/2 hrs straight. It was horrible. I called the on call Dr, and explained to her Ryleighs symptoms. She wasnt a big help. She said to give her tylenol or motrin and see if that would calm her and if not I can take her to the ER. I had given her Motrin 2 hrs before, so it definitly should have kicked in by then. So Bobby and I decided to take her to the ER. She had a double ear infection. Poor girl. Today she seems a little better. Still not 100%. She still has the "sick eyes", red around them, puppy dog looking, Mommy just cuddle me eyes....lol. One plus is Ive gotten some cuddle time with her. Anyone that knows Ryleigh knows that she is just not the cuddle bug...lol. Shes eating and drinking more today, so hopefully by the weekend she will be 100% and we can have a fun weekend! The october fest is this weekend and so Is Miss Anna Banana's 6th Birthday party that we want to go to!
