November will be better

Im so glad October is OVER! This has been the worst moth ever! It started out with my MIL needing surgery. It was scheduled for October 7th. On October 6th I get a call that I almost didnt answer from a lady that I didnt know. She seemed very nervous and there was complete chaos in the background. Shes asking for Bobby. I calmly say, hes not here, hes at work. She seems panicked now and telling me I need to get ahold of him that his moms house is on fire. I tell her ok and immediatly hang up, I still dont know who she is. I called walmart, and told whoever answered that I needed Bobby immediatly it was an emergancy, Bobby picked up the phone with in seconds and I told him " everyone is OK, but you need to go to your moms house NOW its on fire" (he ALWAYS tells me if there is something wrong to let him know people are OK first) He left and I start the process of trying to get a sitter for Ryleigh. I still didnt know the severity of the problem, but I knew if I was needed it wouldnt be a place I could take her. The phone rang several more times and it was the same lady wanting to know where Bobby was coming from, what he was driving etc so he could get through. My mom said she would take Ryleigh so as I was backing out of the driveway my cell rang, it was Bobby telling me he NEEDED me to come. I got to the hospital as the ambulance was pulling in. MIL was a mess to put it lightly. She was having panic attacks and her BP was sky high. After a few hrs in the ER she was discharged and went home with Angie. The house was a total loss. Surgery was postponed 2 weeks. She had it on Oct 21st. She was in a lot of pain. They removed a tumor from her face. On Oct 29th she had her follow up appt and they told her it was cancer.

So today is a NEW month and we are going from there. We are going to stick together and pray like we have never prayed before and together we will beat this beast called cancer. Ryleigh is not even 2 yet. She NEEDS her mammie for a long time still....

Nose Surgery *Graphic*

My nose surgery is on its way to being scheduled. I just have to wait to get my paper in the mail telling me when it will be. If all goes according to plan it will be about a 2 1/2 hr surgery. It will take place in 2 parts. The first part will be performed by the ENT. He will endoscopiclly reduce my turbinates. Here is a definition of what a turbinate is :The anatomy of your nasal cavity has shelves and folds that warm the air and add moisture to it before it reaches your lungs, which makes breathing much more comfortable. These shelves are called the turbinates. Here is a website with a picture of them http://www.commoncold.org/undrstnd.htm
Mine are almost always swollen, making it hard for me to breath through my nose. After he is done the plastic Surgeon will do a rhinoplasty/septoplasty using the open approach. This is the part of the surgery that will take the longest...about 2 hrs if all goes well. The rhinoplasty I'm getting isn't because I hate the shape of my nose, its necessary to help me breath. He will make a cut around the front part of my nose and "flip it up" (Hence the "open approach") after that he will break my nose and re-a line it. He will make graphs with my cartilage and broaden my nose. He said it would look better that way also because I have a very narrow nose. So it will end up 8mm wider when hes done.

Here is the definition of Rhinoplasty. The second paragraph describes why I need the surgery. What Is Rhinoplasty?
Noses come in all shapes and sizes, and are often the focal point of the entire face. Today, noses can be reshaped, reformed and redesigned in nose surgery called "rhinoplasty," also known as a nose job . Rhinoplasty surgery can thin the nose, turn it up, augment it, shorten it, elongate it or otherwise bring it into balance with the rest of the face.
Although a nose job is often completely cosmetic — done strictly to improve appearance — it can include procedures that improve the function of the nose by helping open up the breathing passages. Septoplasty (surgery to reshape the septum, the vertical wall of bone and cartilage between the two nostrils) is done to ease breathing problems caused by blockages. It is often performed to correct a deviated, or crooked, septum. A deviated septum can be the root cause of a crooked nose, so septoplasty can have both cosmetic and reconstructive aspects.

It looks like the surgery will be in December now. Hopefully the beginning. Ill keep everyone updated and also add some before and after shots of my nose.

Please keep me in your prayers as it gets closer to surgery time. I'm extremely nervous!

Learning Experience

I have learned so much this week about so many thing. First I have learned that im alot better in a crisis than I thought I ever would or could be. God has really shown me just how strong I really am.
Second god has shown me what is important in life and what is not.
Third I have found out who I can count on. I have been amazed at the support I have gotten, and who I have gotten it from. I have been so amazed by the items we have recieved so far and thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. Trust me though, you all will be properly thanked when things settle down.

For those that have no idea what im taking about, My IL's house burnt down on Monday. The house was a total loss and they didnt have renters insurance. My MIL was there at the time. She was out on the pourch talking to the neighbors that were buying the house beside hers. She wasnt hurt at all in the fire. My Fil was at work. Its been a super tough week, but I think we all are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now. Clothes and household items are coming in and shes seeing the love all these people are showing for a lady they dont even know. Its absolutly amazing.

Here is a link to pictures of the house http://s138.photobucket.com/albums/q254/Kipani4jc/Mils%20House%20after%20the%20Fire/

Yesterday we went to the Oglebay fest. We got up early and caught the parade first...

After the parade we went to where they have the petting zoo. Ryleigh LOVED the cows! They were mooing at her and she would laugh and moo back at them. The whole day she was talking about the cows. "Moo Moo"

Then at the end we went up to where they have the crafts. We did ALOT of walking. Ryleigh did so well with it all. We only carried her for a little bit here and there. When we were up at the crafts, Ryleigh decided she was hungry. I was standing with my Bobby and Ryleigh waiting for my mom to purchase an item. Ryleigh walked up to some random stranger and tryed to grab her kettle corn bag! The lady was SUPER NICE and asked Ryleigh if she wanted some. Bobby and I both said, not thats ok we will get her some in a bit. Ryleigh was shaking her head yes and looking at the lady saying "Please!" So the nice lady opened her bag and let Ryleigh take a handful, then told Bobby to take a handful for the road for her. I was LMAO! Then after that my mom saw a lday she knew. She too had a kettle corn bag that she had for her granddaughter. Ryleigh walked over and again helped herself to some kettle corn.

After that we came home and Bobby and Ryleigh took a nap. We went back up for round 2 in the evening and met my inlaws there. Ryleigh was so excited to "bounce bounce" (Wait till she finds out what her mamaw got her for christmas...) Then she wanted to slide, so her cousin Olivia said she would help her up. Olivia had a hard time, so I took my shoes off and climbed up. Let me tell you that is HARD! Climbing with one hand and pushing a toddler up the ladder. After the 2nd time I physically couldnt have done that again!

After all that the inlaws went home and Bobby and I went back to the car to prepair for "the pretty's in the sky". We got our chairs, blankets, coats, and gloves and walked up the hill to get a good spot. For 2 1/2 hrs we sat on the hill in the cold waiting for the fireworks to start. That was the absolute BEST part of the day. Ryleigh ran up and down the hill, smiling and laughing and it was awsome. When it got time to watch the fireworks I told her "Theres going to be Pretty's in the sky soon. Its going to be very loud, but its ok, mommys got you!" I told her that several times. She would say "pretty's? Sky? Youd (loud) Mama" And I would say yep, its going to be loud. Bobby and I had a bet on what she was going to do. I chose she was going to "freak out" and we were going to have to make a mad dash to the car. He thought she would be fine, and she was! I lost :(

Speeses!

Win a $250 Speesees organic cotton baby or toddler wardrobe from Nature's Child - Wholesome Goods for Mothers and Babies

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Dear Ryleigh,

Wow, in just 3 days you will be 21 months old! Where has the time gone? Pretty soon we will be having your 2nd birthday party. I will be the mother of a 2 year old!? You are such an amazing little girl. Evey day is a new adventure and you have taught me so much. Here I am supposed to be teaching you, and your teaching me.
You know what you want and what you don't want. That's for sure. You make it known that everyone else knows what you want as well. You have formed a very special bond with your "dubba" (blanket for those of you that are not fluent in Ryleigh yet). "Dubba" goes everywhere with us and is very rarely out of your sight. I'm trying to get you to take "little dubba" when we leave the house and keeping your big dubba at home. Sometimes you go for it, sometimes you put your little foot down and make it very clear that's not going to happen...hehe.
Your eating is improving some, but its not the greatest. Getting you to try new things doesn't happen very often. Usually it only happens when you initiate it. Most of the time you find out that what you have tasted, you actually like! Imagine that...lol For breakfast you eat things like Cheerios, Maple Brown sugar oatmeal, cinn. toast and a cup of milk. Lunch and dinner are usually just grazing here and there. When you tell me your hungry Ill give you a healthy choice like fruit, cottage cheese, string cheese, buttered noddles, mac n cheese, spaghetti or peas with butter and sprinkle cheese. Those are your favorites.
Your learning so much in the last month or so. Some of the things we are working on are: numbers, shapes, colors and animal sounds. You understand the concept of counting, but everything is 2 with you. You will through your bean bags in the bucket and say 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 for all of them. Its a work in progress I guess. Your colors, you know Yellow, brown, pink and green the best. Every once in a while you will get some others like purple, blue and red. Shapes, you know Heart, star, moon (crescent shape) and circle. We are working on Triangle and square also, but your having a hard time with those. Animal sounds you know, Cat (that's my favorite one you do), duck, cow, horse, dog, sheep and frog.
You love cartoons! Your favorite is Oswald. I have no idea why, but you love that octopus! You other favorites are Dora, Diego and backyardigans.
Your speech is amazing! You know exactly how to get your point across as to what you want. Your putting 3 words together now also. You are so polite too. You always say thank you. It makes me even more proud of you to hear you say it, cause it means that I'm doing something right as a mom. I love you more than you know. One day when your a mom and you look at your child and your hear explodes with love, then you will know how much I love you...

Company Picnic

Yesterday was my moms company picnic. I got Ryleigh to nap early and we headed over around 1pm. We had a yummy catered lunch! Ryleigh was playing with some other kids and they had a ball. She wanted it, but didn't want to play what they were playing. God forbid she *gasp* SHARE THE BALL. LOL So I went up to the car and got her ball so she would run around with them. We tryed to get her to throw it to the other kids so they could throw it back to her. But that involved letting go of the ball and another child just might take it...so she would have none of that! After that we went and played on the playground, then took a paddle boat ride. She liked the boat, but HATED the life vest she had to wear. Ill post a pic of her crying about it. We had a great day!

If you look at the pic below you will see she has HER ball, and is trying to take the pink one too!
Photobucket

I dont know what she was doing, but she looks like such a big girl doing it...lol

Peek
Mad Ryleigh. She kept saying "done done done" and "Off Off"
I HATE THIS VEST!

The Duck says WHAT??

Today we went to my MILs house. FIL has a little stuffed Aflac duck. When you squeeze it, it says "Aflac". Ryleigh was playing with it and laughing. I didnt thing she was really listening to it. Later I was asking her some animal sounds. When I asked "what does the duck say?" Her reply was "Aflac!" LMAO! She cracks me up!

Moment of Chaos

Let me set the scene for you. Ryleigh was in her bean bag chair watching her "toon toons". I was taking a a min to check email on the computer. The dogs were sleeping in the computer room beside me. There is a knock at the door. Instantly the dogs spring into action and tear towards the door barking like psychos...er I mean the good watch dogs they are. This scares the living daylights out of Ryleigh and shes now terrified, crying, running down the hall screaming at the top of her little lungs "MAMA MAMA MAMA MAMA" I just up and pick her up. Go to the front door and tell them to hold on. I get one dog by the collar while holding a screaming, crying Ryleigh in the other arm and manage to get the dog in the bedroom. Oh and did I mention when I picked Ryleigh up that she was soaking wet because she decided to un-velcro one side of her diaper and peed all over herself and her clothes? So I grab dog #2 by the collar while im still holding a screaming, crying wet Ryleigh. I open the door to the bedroom while yelling "stay stay" and dog #1 runs back to the door. I put dog #2 in the back bathroom and go to the front door again. The guys laughing as I say for the 20th time..."hold on". So again I grab dog #1 and start to walk back to the bedroom with him. I step in the potty chair cup, trip, but manage not to fall. I bet the guy got a kick outa that one. FINALLY I get the dogs situated and go to the front door. Say "Im sorry" and let him in to clean the carpets. Ryleigh is still crying, but atleast shes a little calmer. I get a diaper and take her to the bedroom to change her. Then we watched as they cleaned the carpets and Ryleigh told them "bye bye" while waving ever 2 seconds because she wanted them to leave.

"Cause"

My daughter never ceases to amaze me! Today I ask her "Do you want to go to Mamaw and Pap Pap's house for dinner" She says "Nooo" I say "No? Why not??" She says "cause!"

Cause?? Where in the world did my 20 month old learn "cause" and how to use it correctly??

Fun with Ryleigh

The other day I was really bored and decided to take Ryleigh to Oglebay. First stop was the Mansion. I let her check out the flowers and run around. Here are some pics...

My big girl

Smelling the flowers

She decided to run away from me through the flowers. Good thing no one was around...I think thats frowned upon...lol

Next stop was the park...we played for a little bit, then we decided to hike to the falls. Suprisingly she walked almost the WHOLE way! She seemed to really enjoy it, touching rocks, checking out the creek, touching moss on a tree and saying "eww eww" LOL. On the way there I carried her once, but only because it was a muddy part, and I knew she would have been covered head to toe if I didnt. On the way back I had to carry her about 3 times here and there for a few min. All in all it was a great day. Ryleigh and I usually dont do things like that just her and I. We are usually out with a playgroup or something. It was nice justwith just us.
